The TM Global Hospital Award 2012 goes to Japan, into the prefecture Fukushima.
Why?
One hospital in the Fukushima prefecture will take the award representatively for all hospitals and clinics in the natural disaster area of March 2011 with tsunami and radiation disaster.
Nurses and doctors in these hospitals did the hardest work someone can do and until today they are still handling problems from the disaster. Even their family members, relatives and friends got injured or died due to the disaster, but they worked ahead and took care for each patient...

Ein Krankenhaus in der Präfektur Fukushima wird stellvertretend für alle Krankenhäuser in der vom Tsunami und der Strahlenkatastrophe betroffenen Region, den Award in Empfang nehmen.
Pflegepersonal und Ärzte dort haben den wohl schwierigsten Arbeitsalltag gemeistert und kämpfen noch heute mit den Folgen der Katastrophe. Auch ihre Familien und Freunde wurden bei der Katastrophe verletzt oder getötet, dennoch kümmerten sie sich mit aller Kraft weiter um alle Patienten...

Upon receiving the news that Kasih Ibu General Hospital in Bali has won the TravelMedicus Global Hospital Award 2011, the founder and CEO Dr. Suanda Duarsa MD was deeply touched.

The goal is to honour and promote hospitals offering "more than others" in a safe and competent way with the focus on globalization and global healthcare.
